The iron was also made into usable goods in the area. Travel half a mile or so along the Millfields Road to the west of the town and you will come to a place known as Spring Vale. This is where iron and steel making is still carried out just as it has been for two hundred years or more and the large blue and white sign outside the main gate clearly proclaims it to be Bilston Iron and Steelworks.
