I just received the cd "Authentic Greek Folk Songs & Dances -- The Royal Greek Festival Company" and I must say I was extremely disappointed. First of all, the songs that are advertised on the cd are not even played in that order.
The songs are completely out of order/5(9). In Greek Folk Song Suite, Franco Cesarini has elaborated on three songs belonging to this most ancient tradition. The first, “O Haralambis,” is in 7/8 time and characteristic of a popular folk dance called kalamatianos. The second movement, “Stu Psiloriti,” refers to an ancient song from the island of Crete.
And at the end of her publishing life she returned to the topic of folksong with her translation of A Sheaf of Greek Folk Songs, Gleaned by an Old Philhellene ().
